Application scenarios of ozone honeycomb

In many environmental protection and industrial application scenarios, ozone, as a strong oxidizing substance, plays an important role in sterilization, disinfection, air and water purification. However, excessive ozone can cause harm, so efficient ozone treatment technology is essential. Ozone honeycombs, especially ozone honeycombs loaded with copper-manganese catalysts, have shown unique advantages in practical applications. Copper-manganese catalysts have become a research hotspot in the field of ozone treatment due to their good catalytic activity, stability and relatively low cost. The two types of activated carbon and ceramic carriers are even more powerful in different scenarios.
The copper-manganese catalyst with activated carbon as the carrier can efficiently adsorb ozone and surrounding pollutant molecules with its huge specific surface area and rich pore structure, greatly increasing the contact area between the copper-manganese catalyst and the target substance, thereby significantly improving the catalytic efficiency. In the field of indoor air purification, this characteristic advantage is fully demonstrated. In newly renovated houses, there are often volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde and benzene, as well as ozone generated by air purifiers, copiers, and laser printers. Copper-manganese catalysts with activated carbon as carriers can catalytically decompose ozone into oxygen, preventing ozone from irritating and damaging the human respiratory tract, eyes, etc. At the same time, they can also catalytically oxidize harmful organic pollutants in the air and convert them into harmless substances such as carbon dioxide and water, effectively improving indoor air quality and creating a healthy and comfortable living and office environment for people. For example, in the fresh air system of some high-end office buildings, after installing ozone honeycomb modules containing such catalysts, the odor of indoor air is significantly reduced, the concentration of harmful gases is greatly reduced, and after testing, the air quality is significantly improved.
In terms of industrial waste gas treatment, especially when it comes to volatile organic waste gas treatment, copper-manganese catalysts loaded with activated carbon also perform well. In industrial production, industries such as chemical, coating, printing, etc. will emit a large amount of organic waste gas containing toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate, etc. These waste gases not only pollute the atmospheric environment, but also may cause environmental problems such as photochemical smog. When such catalysts are applied to waste gas treatment equipment, on the one hand, ozone decomposes under the action of copper-manganese catalysts to produce oxygen free radicals with strong oxidizing properties. These oxygen free radicals can react with organic waste gas molecules to accelerate their oxidative decomposition process; on the other hand, the adsorption of activated carbon can enrich pollutants in waste gas, making the reaction more complete, thereby achieving efficient purification of organic waste gas. After the waste gas treatment device of a chemical park introduced this technology, the removal rate of organic waste gas increased from the original 60% to more than 85%, greatly reducing the pollution to the surrounding environment.
Looking at the copper-manganese catalyst with ceramic as the carrier, the ceramic material has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength, so that the copper-manganese catalyst with this as the carrier can still work stably in some harsh environments. This catalyst plays a key role in the ozone tail gas treatment link in the wastewater treatment process. Many sewage treatment plants use ozone oxidation to remove difficult-to-degrade organic matter in sewage. However, if the remaining ozone tail gas after the reaction is directly discharged, it will pollute the atmospheric environment. The copper-manganese catalyst on the ceramic carrier can be installed in the exhaust gas treatment device to catalytically decompose the ozone exhaust gas to ensure that the exhaust gas meets the standard. Due to the stability of the ceramic carrier, even in a complex wastewater treatment environment with high humidity and containing multiple chemical substances, the catalyst can maintain high-efficiency catalytic performance for a long time, ensuring the stable operation of the exhaust gas treatment system.
In medical and health places, such as hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes, the requirements for air disinfection are extremely high. The ozone generator with a ceramic honeycomb-loaded copper-manganese catalyst can be used for air disinfection, using the strong oxidizing property of ozone to kill bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms in the air. At the same time, after the disinfection is completed, the copper-manganese catalyst on the ceramic carrier quickly decomposes the residual ozone to avoid the harm of high-concentration ozone to the human body. Compared with other disinfection methods, this technology that combines ozone sterilization and catalyst de-ozone has a more thorough disinfection effect and no chemical residue, which can provide a safe and clean air environment for medical places.
The copper-manganese catalyst with activated carbon as carrier plays an important role in indoor air purification and conventional industrial waste gas treatment by virtue of its advantages of adsorption and catalytic synergy; the copper-manganese catalyst with ceramic as carrier relies on the characteristics of ceramic materials to show excellent performance in high temperature, high humidity or high catalyst stability requirements such as wastewater ozone tail gas treatment and medical and health site disinfection. With the continuous advancement of science and technology, these two ozone honeycomb related technologies are expected to be further optimized and upgraded, expand a wider range of application areas, and provide stronger support for environmental protection and human health.
